چکیده
OBJECTIVE To determine patient and dialysis services-related factors associated with seroconversion of hepatitis C virus (HCV) in hemodialysis (HD) patients. STUDY DESIGN Cross-sectional study. PLACE AND DURATION OF Department Nephrology, Mayo Hospital, King Edward Medical University (KEMU), Lahore, from January to December, 2018. METHODOLOGY All patients on regular HD for more than three months were enrolled. who seroconverted HCV-negative positive status after starting HD, included. Patient-related (age, gender, blood transfusion, duration frequency dialysis, history dental treatment surgical intervention) parameters (dedicated staff, isolated room, machine, reverse osmosis plant, compliance universal infection control measure) noted. RESULTS Out 990 patients, 492 (49.7%) reported as HCV during HD. Factors determined statistically significant intervention (p<0.001), procedure (p <0.001), transfusions multiple sexual partner age (p=0.035) <0.001). not affecting included (p=0.062), renal transplant =0.097) family (p=0.941). A negative correlation was observed between the rate score measures (r=-0.665, p=0.018). CONCLUSION There a high responsible intervention, treatment, partners, dialysis. The centres non-compliant having seroconversion. Key Words: Hemodialysis, Seroconversion, HCV, Blood Dental Surgical Infection, Isolation.

Management of chronic hepatitis C virus infection in patients with end-stage renal disease: a review
Infection with hepatitis C virus (HCV) is highly prevalent in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients, mainly in those on hemodialysis (HD). The seroprevalence of HCV in developing countries ranges between 7% and 40%. Risk factors for this infection in the CKD population include the number of blood transfusions, duration of end-stage renal disease (ESRD), and prevalence of HCV in HD. Chronic HCV ...

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is a major health problem in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The incidence of acute HCV infection during maintenance dialysis is much higher than that in the general population because of the risk of nosocomial transmission. Following acute HCV infection, most patients develop chronic HCV infection, and a significant proportion develop chronic hep...

Background: The mortality rate of sepsis and pneumonia is higher in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients than in the general population. Bacterial infections are the most common cause of hospitalization in dialysis patients and the most common source of bacteremia is vascular access in these patients. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of infectious causes of hospitalizati...

Introduction: This study aims to evaluate the dentomaxillofacial radiographic changes in end stage renal disease (ESRD) patients who were on hemodialysis. Methods: Parathyroid hormone (PTH), calcium, phosphorus and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) measurements, as well as Panoramic and periapical radiographs were obtained from seventy four patients with a history of end stage renal disease (ESRD). Re...
